Can a Person Know God Without Access to a Bible?

Even without a copy of the Bible, an individual can most certainly both know and have a personal relationship with God. For those of us who do have access to one, the Bible itself is the greatest argument for this fact.

The very first people mentioned in Genesis, Adam and Eve, knew God on a personal level and there is no evidence that they had access to writings of any kind. Not only did they have knowledge of God, they literally had the opportunity to go on walks with him through the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:8).

How did all of this happen? How could anyone get to know God on this level without a Bible or any part of the Holy Scriptures? The answer, although profound, is quite simple. God willed it. He wanted to have a relationship with them and he made the first move.

That one little statement also answers another colossal question – “Why would God bother to make humans in the first place?” On the grand stage of our gigantic solar system, mankind’s sole existence seems trivial. Yet God willed it.

As the grand narrative of the Bible continues to unfold, several renowned characters are shown to have an immensely intimate relationship with God – Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and Moses. Not one of them had access to the scriptures. In fact, the traditional law of God had not yet even been given to the Earth at that time. So how did this happen? God willed it. And since God is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), he can still do it today.
